spirit needs a tool

Sophie Kern is an Inuit Ghost Whisperer

"Your soul will know when the time is right, in time you'll be blind by the light, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you. No one knows anything, you never know what's happening, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you...

I feel plain, i'm singing low today, the world means less, less to me today. The soul begins when the Sun appears, body leaves its temple here. The miracle is a mystery, all of nature does agree, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you...

When kids grow up, its like they die, decided to devote my life, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you. The more I lived the worse i felt, thought for sure my heart would melt, the answer comes and i'm behind, i've been here all this time...

Your soul will know when the time is right, in time you'll be blind by the light, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you. No one knows anything, you never know what's happening, spirit needs a tool, open wide it comes to you..."

Something Wicked This Way Comes!

Sisters Of The Black Moon officially opens the portal to their ebay shop today! They will be adding more to the shop for a regular 10 day auction on the Full Moon this Sunday!

It's a Visionary Thing...

"My art it is my path, the journey to primordial spirit. Uncovering layers of consciousness, I dive within, in perfect trust and surrender, into the unknown. Flowing intuitionally, with the guidance of sound, I explore my essence, discovering who I truly am. It is the language of my soul and one of the greatest tools for healing, transformation, and creation of reality."

Have you ever wondered what's inside Pandora's Box? Then you should explore the mystical, psychedelic art of Kati Astraeir!

silent invisible conversations...

"I can tell by the way you're awaking, that it's going to be a long one. Your Mother says it's Journey, how could it stop the beauty? Or the coming of the darkness and the morning that comes after..." Samara Lubelski

Imagine...

Imagine if everyone started thinking outside the box. This is the Wat Pa Maha Chedio Kaew Temple in Thailand, it was built using an estimated 1.5 million recycled bottles. Its nickname, “Wat Lan Kuad” literally means “Temple of Million Bottles”. The monks who built the temple continue to recycle all the bottles they receive. On the premises of the temple they have also built a crematorium, surrounding shelters, and even the toilets! Bottle caps are also integrated as decorative mosaic murals. More pics here!

Solange Azagury-Partridge

London based designer Solange Azagury-Partridge is another woman entrepreneur I am endlessly inspired by. (I loved reading about her DIY beginnings) She's best known for her mystical sensibility expressed in fine jewelry and perfume. "Witchy" is the designer’s nickname! “Occult sounds like it should be dark and scary,” she says. “But it’s really not. It’s magical and fantastical.” She also boasts an amazing limited edition collection called "Unwearable Jewels" featuring decorative objects that incorporate precious and semi-precious stone, handmade carpets, tables, wall plaques, and chandeliers. Her boutique, located in New York's Upper East Side, is just as dazzling as her jewelry, with walls covered in 630,000 Swarovski crystals. “Everyone looks amazing reflected in crystal light,” Azagury-Partridge says. She designed everything in her shop from the furniture and vitrines, as well as the solid silver disco ball hanging from the ceiling. I would really like to know what kind of magick wand this lady is working with!

Jillian Ross

"the fetishization of memory and the past: a longing for what has just transpired and is no longer tangible" http://www.jilliankayross.com/

Sun Ra (May 22, 1914–May 30, 1993) was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a prolific jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, poet and philosopher known for his "cosmic philosophy," musical compositions and performances.
"Of all the jazz musicians, Sun Ra was probably the most controversial," critic Scott Yanow said, due to Sun Ra's eclectic music and unorthodox lifestyle. Claiming that he was of the "Angel Race" and not from Earth, but from Saturn. Sun Ra developed a complex persona of "cosmic" philosophies and lyrical poetry that made him a pioneer of afrofuturism as he preached awareness and peace above all. He abandoned his birth name and took on the name and persona of Sun Ra (Ra being the ancient Egyptian god of the sun), and several other names throughout his career, including Le Sonra and Sonny Lee. Sun Ra denied any connection with his birth name, saying "That's an imaginary person, never existed … Any name that I use other than Ra is a pseudonym." (source)

Mara Hoffman ~ Designer/Cosmonaut

Mara Hoffman is out of this world!!! Her latest collection features pyramids, cosmic patterns and psychedelic prints reminiscent of vintage Paganne and Emilio Pucci. The models at her presentation were adorned with jewelry by All for the Mountain and glowing crown chakras! Oh yes, Space is the Place!

The ambient sound system was provided by a duo of space oddities (decked out in Mara's designs) who call themselves Living Sacrifice. "Take your protein pills and put your helmet on..."

And below, the enchanting Natasha Kahn of Bat for Lashes is wearing a covetable silk kaftan by Mara Hoffman. But alas, the price tags...these garments are reserved only for Bourgeois Bohemians. (yes, that is an oxymoron). The stars are not aligned at this time for me to indulge in such luxuries. Thank Heaven for $7 dashikis from the Village Thrift ;)

Erykah Badu ~ The Healer

Erykah Badu's fifth opus -New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh- comes out March 30! The promotional material was inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1973 cult classic La Montaña Sagrada (The Holy Mountain) And the video for her latest single “Jump Up in the Air (Stay There)” is totally reminiscent of Sun Ra's "Calling Planet Earth". Erykah knows what's up, she's been incorporating esoterica into her work since the beginning!!! ~Each One Teach One~ Check out her website for a lil' teaser!

CAVERN COLLECTION

Terence McKenna states "that History is ending because the dominator culture has led the human species into a blind alley, and as the inevitable chaostrophie approaches, people look for metaphors and answers. Every time a culture gets into trouble it casts itself back into the past looking for the last sane moment it ever knew. And the last sane moment we ever knew was on the plains of Africa 15,000 years ago rocked in the cradle of the Great Horned Mushroom Goddess before history, before standing armies, before slavery and property, before warfare and phonetic alphabets and monotheism, before, before, before. And this is where the future is taking us because the secret faith of the twentieth century is not modernism, the secret faith of the twentieth century is nostalgia for the archaic, nostalgia for the paleolithic, and that gives us body piercing, tattooing, abstract expressionism, surrealism, jazz, rock-n-roll and catastrophe theory. The 20th century mind is nostalgic for the paradise that once existed on the mushroom dotted plains of Africa where the plant-human symbiosis occurred that pulled us out of the animal body and into the tool-using, culture-making, imagination-exploring creature that we are. And why does this matter? It matters because it shows that the way out is back and that the future is a forward escape into the past. This is what the psychedelic experience means..."

This is exactly why CAVERN COLLECTION is so appealing. It's a response to the collective unconscious longing for an Archaic Revival. "Cavern Collection is the ongoing collaboration of ideas between Los Angeles based artists, Adam Tullie and Angeline Rivas. Primarily focused on a core base of original, hand-drawn offerings, the collection has expanded to include furniture, wall hangings, pillows, blankets, jewelry & accessories."

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010

"This latest collection entitled "Plato's Atlantis" was created to cast an apocalyptic forecast of the future ecological meltdown of the world. With humankind made up of creatures that evolved from the sea, McQueen used fashion to demonstrate how man may be heading back to an underwater future as the ice cap dissolves. To understand what McQueen means, one must first understand the story of the lost continent of Atlantis. It starts in 355 B.C. with the Greek philosopher Plato. As legend goes, 9000 years before the time of Plato, after the people of Atlantis became corrupt and greedy, Plato writes that the gods decided to destroy them. A violent earthquake shook the land, giant waves rolled over the shores, and the island sank into the sea, never to be seen again. So, is McQueen's collection a modern day work of fiction? Or is it an ancient premonition come to life?" (source)

"In the beginning, it is always dark"

Almost every creation myth begins by telling us that before the Universe was created, there was only a Sea of Dark Infinite Space and Directionless Chaos. It was out of this primordial abyss that the Universe was created. The Father of Life (Chaos) impregnated the Great Mother (Dark Infinite Space) and she gave birth to the entire Universe! (There was a Big Bang and then there was Light!) The Primordial Creative Energies of the Universe are often depicted as a pair of serpents, one male and one female. The sparks of creation were started by the friction between the two opposites.

Mother/Father...Yin/Yang...Yab/Yum...Shiva/Shakti...the Divine Lovers...Sparks fly igniting the Flames of Creation. This is the ecstatic passion which unites them eternally...the Fire of Love! Love is the quintessence of the Universe, the secret Power of Creation.

"Invoke me under my stars! Love is the Law, Love under Will. Nor let the fools mistake Love; for there are Love and love. There is the Dove, and there is the Serpent. Choose ye well! He, my prophet, hath chosen, knowing the law of the fortress, and the great mystery of the House of God." Liber al vel Legis 1:57

Time for Change

2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl

A 350ft Crop Circle of a Quetzalcoatl Headdress~ Silbury, Wiltshire UK (source)

The Return of Quetzalcoatl

Jean Paul Gaultier journeyed far from his home in Paris to visit Mexico a while back. He stated he didn't fully appreciate the richness of Mexican culture while he was there because it wasn't what he was looking for at the time. It didn't all sink in until he started working on his Spring Summer 2010 Haute Couture Collection. He said he can't wait to go back! Something must have happened when he visited the Teotihuacan pyramids, 'cause this collection screams Quetzalcoatl! Make sure to check out the rest of this collection featuring giant sombreros, conquistador armour, Spanish bull fighters, Aztec influenced hair sculpture, Mayan goddesses, and flamenco!

The new Massive Attack album "Heligoland" will be released February 8th!!! The album features some amazing guest vocalist like Tunde Adebimpe (of TV on the Radio) and Hope Sandoval (of Mazzy Star)! I love this track featuring Martina Topley Bird (of Tricky). I just listened to this song like 33 times...

Into the sky for your eagle eye
The Sun seeds a sickle and a scythe

Jim Skull

Parisian artist, Jim Skull sites his inspirations as Amerindian and Oceanian cult objects, European ex-votos, relics and Cabinets of Curiosities. But his recent body of work, the skulls reference well known cultural figures like Timothy Leary, an icon of 1960s psychedelic counterculture (shown below!)

"Like every great religion of the past we seek to find the divinity within and to express this revelation in a life of glorification and the worship of God. These ancient goals we define in the metaphor of the present - turn on, tune in, drop out." ~ Timothy Leary
