The Witch of Positano

"Let it all be animal, my life and death, hard and clean like that, anything but human...a lot I care, me with my red heart in the dark earth and my tattooed feet following the animal ways." Vali Myers ~ 1963

""When Gianni first arrived in the valley of Il Porto at 18 years of age, the exotically beautiful Vali Myers, was the undisputed Queen of the wild canyon. Vali was an extraordinary artist and dancer. A free spirit, who found the Moorish pavilion and its walled garden whilst exploring the deep valley. She made her home there for more than 40 years, collecting a large and varied family of animals."

She was amazing, have you read her biography? It's excellent. She was Australian (like me) and had a studio in Melbourne (my home town) in her later years, I met her when I was 15, my boyfriend at the time took me to meet her in her beautiful studio, and that was the beginning of a life long obsession :)
