Imagine...

Imagine if everyone started thinking outside the box. This is the Wat Pa Maha Chedio Kaew Temple in Thailand, it was built using an estimated 1.5 million recycled bottles. Its nickname, “Wat Lan Kuad” literally means “Temple of Million Bottles”. The monks who built the temple continue to recycle all the bottles they receive. On the premises of the temple they have also built a crematorium, surrounding shelters, and even the toilets! Bottle caps are also integrated as decorative mosaic murals. More pics here!

products, which are reproduced by the Dutch label Moooi, all Smoke products come from the Baas & den Herder studio
in The Netherlands. Since 2004 gallery Moss and Maarten Baas collaborate on the “Where There’s Smoke…” A Smoke collection of well known design classics of a.o Rietveld, Eames and Gaudi. Besides this series, Baas has done commissions for collectors and museums around the world."

Inspiration!

I don't remember where I found this image...but I love the idea! This bathroom is wallpapered with pages from one of the 18th century's greatest natural history achievements, Albertus Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities (Jumbo) I could do with out the green though, too over-stated. I'd use a neutral or white! Love it!

Anthropomorphic Dreams!

Behold...the newest series of platters by ibride! I LOVE them ALL so much! But I can't live with out the crow...his name is Bernardo.

Antler Craze

The Antler Craze has proven to be more than just a passing design trend. Vintage trophies and faux creations have found their way into every design magazine! When I found a small lot of these Roe Buck Antlers at an estate sale...you know I scooped them right up! Check out my Etsy shop, I have the one below listed. Spaced Out!

I love looking at what creative people do with their homes. My own style is very bohemian...I shamelessly mix styles and eras! Do you remember when that book Pad: The Guide to Ultra-Living came out? That's a fun book, although the featured homes are a little too kitchy for me. I can only take kitch in small doses! I'm really excited about a new book that will be released in June. It's called Spaced Out: Crash Pads, Hippie Communes, Infinity Machines and Other Radical Environments of the Psychedelic Sixties I can't wait for this one!

Fungi Fever!

It's true...mushroom madness is contagious! It all started when I saw these brown ceramic mushrooms at my friend Amy's shop, Willow. They sold so fast I didn't have a chance to snach them up! After some investigating on the Web, I found them at Velocity. Here are some other mushroom themed home accessories that I lust for...I love these porcelain logs with mushrooms growing on them by Roost. Availabe at Velocity. The porcelain mushrooms on the right are from the Curiosity Shoppe.



I love these silver painted ceramic mushrooms, available at Doe. This place has lots of mushroom goodness, especially of the bright happy toadstool variety.


I adore these handmade mushrooms by Tamar Mogendorf. She makes all kinds of cute softies!

The Doily...Reinvented!

It all started with the Neo-Victorian "gothic collection" by Thomas Paul that I fell in love with last year. A set of serveware featuring silhouettes and doilies. Then I saw found Vintage framed doilies in my favorite little Etsy shop, Mon Petit Fantome. (Which by the way, will be showcased in an upcoming issue of Domino Magazine featuring 15 lucky Etsy Artists! Yay Chad!) Anyway, these guys were onto something because now it seems there are doilies everywhere I look this Spring.. I love it! Look, more framed doilies below!

Dark Forest

I'm into this Dark Forest theme these days. Owls, Stags, Mystical Beasts n' such...the Witch's cottage deep in the thick of the woods! I found these great pics on my favorite Design/Fashion blog, Kalidescope Eyes. I can't help it, I love fur! But I would NEVER buy new fur. At this point in history, we humans have no excuse to kill helpless animals in the name of Fashion!

Just look at that fur blanket. Have you ever seen Conan the Barbarian? Remember that hot scene, where Conan meets the sexy Sorceress...she lived in a beautiful cave like dwelling, her Love Den was covered in fur!
My mom has a full length white fox that I'm been dying to get my hands on. She's hasn't worn it in 15 years! I'd like to recycle it and make some giant throw pillows.
