So I've recently acquired some old books to use in photographing jewelry for MY ETSY SHOP. My photographs suck and I know that's why I haven't made the front page of Etsy. I'm always more concerned about photographing the detail of the item rather than turning the whole thing into an artistic project. Plus my 2 year old is usually climbing on me or I've had 2 cups of coffee...so I really need a tripod! I also ordered some dried sheet moss...so it will look foresty, yay! I can't wait to tell you about the amazing things that I'll have available in my shop soon, things are going to get super mystical and magical! But for now I must keep my secrets locked away! Anyway, about those books...
The Elegant Witch ~ The Fiery Novel of Witchcraft and Adventure ~ How could I resist!
Witch Hill ~ A History of Salem Witchcraft ~ This one's a beauty...published in 1871! Cover is complete with a Witch, a cat, and an owl!
Check out the spine of the book, it's Alice and the Cheshire Cat!

those books are so great, where did you find them?
I really like your etsy shop too, I've just favorited you (: I think that if you took some super close up photos, that might improve other people's interest and get you into more treasuries/on the front page? It seems that macro photos that are tightly cropped do the best - just from what I've seen. I really like your magickal potion photo though.
Yaaaay!
Those books are fantastic!
I can't wait to see the new stuff in the shop honey.
xo.
What an amazing find. I love old books. I loooove your etsy shop too! Thank you so much for your kind words. Your flickr has so many fantastic pieces!! BTW that olmar and mirta was such a heart break to lose out on. It was listed on ebay a few months ago. I had to stop at 300.00 I know it's worth much more but I just couldn't imagine paying more. I know they do Rick Owens clothes so maybe searching for his pieces might turn something up. Thanks for the info on the outfits. I'll definitely turn some in!
LOVE the sheet moss idea. Vintage books are always nice, too. :)
i'm so jealous of your book finds! especially the green one. i can't wait to see what you're working on!
xoxo
beautiful books- i'm drooling! thank you for sharing images of them :)
yeah, that green embossed cover's got me salivating! I'm working on a series of brooches made from embossed book covers so you know I'd kill for that one... well, maybe kill an afternoon...
Yaaaay!
